GIRLS BASKETBALL
Souderton 31, Council Rock North 27 >> Teya McConnaha collected 11 points and six rebounds as Souderton outscored Council Rock North 11-5 in the second quarter to lead 20-14 at halftime then held on to earn its fifth straight win Thursday.
Casey Harter had eight points, three assists and three steals while Erin Bohmueller chipped in five points, six assists and two blocks for Souderton (8-2, 5-1 SOL Colonial).
Lizzie Lustig’s nine points paced CR North (2-6, 1-5 SOL Patriot).
Methacton 77, Boyertown 32 >> Senior Nicole Timko moved into second place on Methacton’s all-time scoring list as she scored 16 points and the Warriors rolled to a third straight win in the PAC Liberty matchup.
Cassidy Kropp also had 16 points for Methacton (5-1, 2-0 division), who led 21-6 after the first quarter. Tori Bockrath hit three of the Warriors’ 11 3-pointers in posting 11 points, Reana Torres had 10 points while Mairi Smith added seven points and eight rebounds.
Madison Konnick had a game-high 17 points for Boyertown (0-9, 0-3).
Timko, who also had six steals, eclipsed both Maegan Gaile (1,313, 1993-97) and Lauren Ruhl (1,316, 2006-10) on the night to stand at 1,324 points, behind only the 1,682 of Renee Womack (2004-08).
Archbishop Carroll 63, St. Hubert 34 >> Taylor Wilson scored 18 of her game-high 20 points in the first half and also grabbed nine rebounds as Archbishop Carroll led 32-17 at halftime lead and pulled away further from there for a victory in its Philadelphia Catholic League opener.
Grace O’Neill collected 12 points and four assists, Maggie Grant had 12 points while Taylor Wilson finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Patriots (6-3, 1-0 league), who have won three straight.
Gianna Grassifulli paced St. Hubert with 16 points.
Archbishop Wood 71, Conwell-Egan 50 >> Archbishop Wood (5-3, 1-0) started PCL play by going on the road and topping Conwell-Egan for its third straight win.
Faith Christian 36, Jenkintown 32 >> Faith Christian (7-2) topped visiting Jenkintown for its seventh consecutive win while the Drakes dropped to 5-2.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Methacton 51, Boyertown 44 >> Brett Byrne finished with a game-high 17 points as Methacton rallied past host Boyertown in the second half to stay undefeated.
Matt Christian hit three 3-pointers in scoring 11 points while Cole Hargrove added nine points for the Warriors (8-0, 1-0 PAC Liberty) who trailed 27-20 at halftime, cut its deficit to 40-36 entering the fourth then outscoring the Bears 14-5 in the final eight minutes.
Zach Ward and Richard Black each scored 11 to lead Boyertown (5-4, 0-2 PAC Liberty) while Eddie Higgins had 10 points.
Council Rock North 54, Souderton 27 >> Jay Bonnet registered six points to lead Souderton (8-3, 3-3 SOL Colonial) as its five-game win streak was snapped. Council Rock North improved to 8-2 (4-1 SOL Patriot) with its fourth win in a row.
BOYS SWIMMING
Souderton 95, Methacton 77 >> Souderton’s Robbie Ferlick claimed first in both the 100 (49.34) and 200 free (1:49.75) as the Indians topped Methacton in their nonleague dual meet.
Also earning first for Souderton were Matvey Andryushin in the 500 free (23.92), Alex Martin in diving (229.90) and Kyle Krader in the 100 fly (59.97).
Methacton winners were Tommy Gibbs in the 200 individual medley (2:04.87), Dylan Phan in the 500 free (5:22.63), Christopher Groff in the 100 back (58.29) and Christian Lebold in the 100 breast (1:07.20). Both Gibbs and Phan swam on the Warriors’ first-place 200 medley and 400 relays.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Souderton 97, Methacton 79 >> Souderton’s Anna Stauffer won both the 200 free (2:03.10) and 100 breast (1:11.76) to help the Indians earn the victory in the nonleague dual meet.
Souderton also received first-place finishes from Amy Masciulli in the 200 individual medley (2:24.98), Jessica Burns in the 50 free (24.99), Taylor Avery in diving (201.30), Abby Burns in the 100 fly (1:02.01) and Molly Goodman in the 100 free (59.99)
For Methacton, Madison Wimmer won the 500 free in 5:22.73 and swam on the Warriors’ winning 200 and 400 free relays while Amanda Tsai was first in the 100 back in 1:05.99.
