Reporter Girls Basketball Roundup: Souderton shuts down CB South; Lansdale Catholic wins 5th straight
Souderton 36, Central Bucks South 19 >> Souderton used its defense to end a two-game skid, not allowing Central Bucks South to score more than five points in any quarter as the Indians won Friday’s SOL Continental contest.
Mikaela Reese finished with a game-high 10 points for Souderton (3-3, 1-2 conference) while Olivia Schneider recorded eight points, seven rebounds and three assists. The Indians led 17-10 at halftime then outscored South 11-5 in the third to go up 13.
Maddie Tantum’s six points paced the Titans (2-4, 1-2).
Lansdale Catholic 74, Hallahan 28 >> Lansdale Catholic raced out to a 27-4 lead after a quarter and cruised to a PCL Blue Division victory.
Timaya Lewis-Eutsey scored 21 points for the Crusaders (5-1, 2-0), who won their fifth straight. Riley DeVitis had 15 points while Gabby Casey chipped in 13 points for LC.
Central Bucks East 52, North Penn 43 >> Emily Chmiel scored 12 of her game-high 23 points in the second half and Central Bucks East rallied in the fourth for an SOL Continental victory.
Gabby Wilga and Mia Salvati both finished with eight points for the Patriots (3-2, 2-1), who trailed by three entering the fourth but outscored North Penn 19-7 in the final eight minutes.
Carley Adams led the Knights (3-2, 1-1) with 10 points — eight coming in the second quarter — while Alli Lindsay added eight points.
Central Bucks West 58, Pennridge 32 >> Central Bucks West was up 31-18 at halftime of the SOL Continental contest and proceeded to increase their lead in the second half as the Bucks (4-1, 3-0 conference) won their fourth in a row.
Corrin Mart had a team-high 11 points for Pennridge (4-2, 1-1).
Germantown Academy 70, Shipley School 38 >> Jaye Haynes scored a game-high 22 points while Becca Booth recorded a double double — 11 points and 14 rebounds — as Germantown Academy pulled away in the third quarter to earn win at the GA Make-A-Wish Showcase Friday.
Maddie Vizza finished with 11 points for the Patriots (7-1), who led Shipley 31-20 at halftime then outscored the Gators 25-7 in the third. Caitlyn Priore added five points and eight assists.
Sanaa Redmond and Lauryn Redcross each scored 12 points to pace Shipley (5-7, 1-0 Friends Schools League).
Plymouth Whitemarsh 75, Cheltenham 23 >> Gabrielle Cooper and Kaitlyn Flanagan both finished with 12 points as Plymouth Whitemarsh rolled past Cheltenham to stay undefeated.
Erin Daley added 10 points for the Colonials (6-0, 3-0 SOL American).
Hatboro-Horsham 54, Upper Moreland 51 >> Hatboro-Horsham built a 34-21 halftime lead then held off Upper Moreland to claim an SOL American win.
Alice Hall paced the Hatters (4-3, 2-1 conference) with 16 points while Cam Ryan scored 10 of her 15 points in the first half.
EmilyFaith Wood collected 14 of her game-high 18 points in the second half for Upper Moreland (3-4, 1-2). Emma Meakin recorded 13 points for the Golden Bears while Katie Opferman added 10 points.
