Reporter Girls Basketball Roundup: Germantown Academy’s Sherri Retif wins 700th game
Germantown Academy girls basketball coach Sherri Retif earned her 700th career coaching victory as the Patriots routed Agnes Irwin 70-24 for an Inter-Ac win Tuesday.
Jaye Haynes scored a game-high 21 points while Elle Stauffer posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Patriots (24-1, 10-0 league), who led 26-7 after a quarter in cruising to their sixth consecutive win.
Retif now stands 700-187 in her coaching career that include stops at New Orleans’ Ursuline Academy, Sun Valley and for the last 21 seasons GA.
Souderton 32, Gwynedd Mercy 27 >> Souderton shut out Gwynedd Mercy 8-0 in the third quarter after the teams played to a 16-16 tie in the first half as the Indians went on to earn their fifth straight win in the non-league matchup.
Mikeala Reese led all scorers with 12 points for Souderton (19-2, 10-1 SOL Continental). Megan Walbrandt had seven points and seven rebounds while Megan Bealer collected five points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Central Bucks East 49, Pennridge 45 >> Pennridge rallied from a 15-8 deficit after the opening quarter to take a 38-37 lead entering the fourth but host Central Bucks East outscored the Rams 12-7 in the final period to claim the SOL Continental win.
Sam Muredda scored 15 points to pace Pennridge (8-12, 2-9 conference), which lost its fifth straight. Julie Kreider added nine points. CB East improved to 12-9 (7-5) with its third win in a row.
