Reporter Girls Basketball: Germantown Academy, Pennridge, Abington pick up wins
Germantown Academy 51, Episcopal Academy 22> Jaye Haynes scored game-high 21 points and Germantown Academy used strong starts in each half to earn an Inter-Ac victory Saturday.
Maddie Vizza posted 13 points for the Patriots (20-4, 9-0 league), who won their third straight. GA led 12-2 after a quarter, was up 24-11 at half then pulled away by outscoring Episcopal Academy 16-5 in the third for a 40-16 advantage.
Caroline McCreary and Amanda Purcell both had seven points to lead the Churchwomen (10-9, 6-4).
Pennridge 48, Kennett 33 >> Pennridge had a fantastic start, sprinting out to a 22-3 lead after a quarter then held off Kennett to claim a nonleague win.
Evelyn Loughery finished with 15 points while Sophie Cweiber added 13 points for the Rams (11-8, 4-6 SOL Continental).
Kennett chipped the margin down to nine at 33-24 entering the fourth but Pennridge took the final quarter 15-9.
Abington 64, Governor Mifflin 51 >> Amanda Jackson scored 17 points while Cire Worley collected 16 points as Abington earned its second straight win.
Jaida Helm posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Galloping Ghosts (10-10, 7-5 SOL American). Khalis Whiting added seven points and handed out 12 assists.
