Presenting 2015-16 All-Main Line girls basketball teams

By Bruce Adams and Eddie Levin

The 2015-16 Main Line high school girls’ basketball season featured quite a number of teams that contended for the top spot.
Friends’ Central (21-6) captured its second consecutive Friends’ Schools League title.
Villa Maria Academy advanced to the PIAA District One Class AAA championship game, courtesy of two consecutive wins at the buzzer.
Shipley survived a rollercoaster of a season to advance to the PAISAA championship game for the third consecutive season.
Academy of Notre Dame bounced back from a difficult campaign last year to post a 19-7 record, which was good enough for a second-place finish in the Inter-Ac.
Episcopal Academy (15-9) overcame some early season injuries to finish tied for third in the Inter-Ac.
Archbishop Carroll continued its streak of PIAA state tournament appearances, as the Patriots improved throughout the season and made it to the Catholic League semifinals.
Conestoga (22-8) advanced to the Central League championship semifinals, then to the second round of the PIAA Class AAAA state tournament.
Merion Mercy Academy clinched a berth in the AACA tournament with the school’s first-ever win over Mount Saint Joseph.
Harriton bounced back from a tough 2013-14 campaign to post a 15-9 record.
The All-Main Line high school girls’ basketball teams are selected by the coaches. Because Main Line Media News covers 19 high schools, the Main Line Media News sports staff limits the number of sports available to first team, second team and honorable mention – but follows the priority of the coaches’ selections.
