Neumann-Goretti’s Johnson scores 53 points against O’Hara
Junior guard Amaris Baker tallied a career-high 32 points on five 3-point field goals, but Cardinal O’Hara dropped a 74-70 Catholic League decision at Neumann-Goretti.
The Lions led 19-13 after one quarter, but went into the locker room at halftime down by two points following a 20-12 run by the Saints.
Sydni Scott netted 15 points, and Maggie Doogan added 11 points for the Lions.
The Lions, though, had no answer for Neumann-Goretti’s Diamond Johnson, who poured in 53 points.
In the Central League:
Springfield 46, Harriton 31 >> The Cougars’ Alexa Abbonizio was on fire from long distance, swishing seven 3-pointers and scoring a game-high 23 points.
Jordan Postiglione made four treys and finished with 14 points for Springfield (2-2, 2-0).
In nonleague action:
Chichester 61, Friere Charter 32 >>Ava Franz exploded for a career-high 27 points to lead the Eagles (2-2), who led 37-9 at halftime.
Day’Ami Moyet played a strong defensive game and chipped in with points for Chi. Ariana Davis contributed eight points.
In the Ches-Mont League:
W.C. Rustin 62, Sun Valley 33 >> The Vanguards trailed 22-7 after eight minutes and never recovered. Alecia Whitfield netted a team-high eight points in the loss.
