Neshaminy girls basketball rebounds with a win over CB East

LANGHORNE – Neshaminy (1-1) rebounded nicely from a 51-34 loss to Central Bucks South in a season opener for both teams Dec. 9 on the Lady Skins’ home court with a 55-42 triumph over CB East the very next day.
Neshaminy went ahead of the Lady Patriots 18-11 at the half only to see the opponent tie the game at 34-all at the end of three periods with a 23-16 run. The Skins pulled away in the end with a 21-8 scoring spurt in the fourth quarter.
Neshaminy came into the season missing several players from last season including point guard Morgan Goldenbaum (Ursinus), shooting guard Tierra Porterfield and two-guard Josafinne McIlvaine. Goldenbaum was a first team All Suburban One League National Conference selection last season.
Along with senior captain Emily Alexis, returning to the roster are classmate Thyra Tuttle and first team All-SOL senior Devon Storms, in addition to sophomores Brooke Mullin and Allison Harvey, a second team all-league nominee.
Harvey and Storm led the scoring effort for the Skins vs. CB East, each with 15 points. Mullen – a third team all-league selection last season – hit for 14 points, freshman Kristin Curley came through with 10 points and Alexis added a point.
CB East seniors Bridget Birkhead and Bri Talbot led the Lady Pats with 15 and 12 points, respectively. East fell to 0-2 at it also dropped its Dec. 9 home opener to Upper Dublin, 34-26.
Last season, Neshaminy finished seventh in District 1 with a D-1 playback win over Conestoga then defeated Hazleton and Upper Dublin before falling by a single point to North Penn in the PIAA-4A Tournament.
The Lady Skins tip off their league season 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 vs. SOL National Conference rival Bensalem.
