Mercury Girls Basketball Roundup: Owens guides Pottstown past Upper Perkiomen

Pottstown 55, Upper Perkiomen 32 >> Reilly Owens’ 16 points paced Pottstown in a Pioneer Athletic Conference Frontier victory. She was joined in double figures by Kiyah Cotton (12) and Da’zah Requesters (10). Kaitlyn Mundy led Upper Perkiomen with 19 points.

Shipley School 62, Hill School 55 >> Shipley School, winners of four of the past five PAISAA championships – proved too much for Hill in a non-league meeting Friday. Shipley led by 18 after three quarters. Hill made a 17-5 run in the fourth, fueled by the defense and scoring of seniors Qiana Vigo, Olivia Matto, Alexa Giacche and Amelia Sniffin, to cut the deficit to four with two minutes left but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Vigo – who scored 11 points during the fourth – and Matto both finished with 16 points. Sniffin and Giacche added nine and eight points, respectively. The loss moves Hill’s overall record to 12-9.

Central Bucks South 45, Perkiomen Valley 38 >> Alexa Brodie dominated the opening quarter with 18 of her game-high 20 points to lead CB South over Perk Valley in a non-league matchup. PV made a game of it with an 18-point third quarter. Emma Miley led the Vikings with 17 points and Gabby Marinacci added seven.

Berks Catholic 54, Daniel Boone 24 >> The Saints handled the Blazers (1-7, 6-12) in a Berks II meeting. Courtney Gabbett scored 16 of Boone’s 24 points. Zariya Holt’s 13 were tops for Berks Catholic (8-0, 12-7).
