Mercury Girls Basketball Roundup: LeClaire, Owen J. Roberts handle Boyertown
Owen J. Roberts 54, Boyertown 41 >> Olivia LeClaire had 20 points and Diana Rantz 15 to lead the Wildcats past the Bears in PAC Liberty Division play Thursday.
Ashley Kapp led Boyertown with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. The Bears led 26-20 after the first half, but the Wildcats used a 16-3 third quarter to pull away.
Spring-Ford 48, Methacton 35 >> Cassie Marte and Emmily Tiffan combined for 27 points to lead the Rams past the Warriors in PAC Liberty Division action.
Marte hit for a game-high 16 points — 12 of them on baskets from 3-point range — while Tiffan added 11. Methacton, which had nobody score in double figures, was led by Sydney Tornetta’s eight-point effort and Nicole Timko’s seven.
Perkiomen Valley 68, Norristown 34 >> The Vikings doubled up the Eagles in their PAC Liberty Division game, led by the scoring of Kelly Owens and Sara Nijssen.
Owens got 12 of her game-high 15 points off four 3-point baskets, and Njissen chipped in with 13. Norristown’s leading scorer was Brooke Heim with 10 points.
Pottsgrove 32, Pope John Paul II 30 >> With a 12-7 edge in fourth-quarter scoring, the Falcons erased the Golden Panthers’ early lead and pulled out a close victory in their PAC Frontier Division pairing.
Riley Simon scored 10 points — the highlight a free throw with four seconds left — to finish as both the game’s offensive leader and lone player to hit double figures. Elise Sylvester, who tied the game at 30-30 by making a pair of foul shots, and Tess Crossan had nine points apiece to lead PJP.
Upper Merion 56, Upper Perkiomen 14 >> Kaitlyn Mundy was the bright spot for the Indians while they fell to the Vikings in a PAC Frontier Division contest.
Mundy scored 10 points to provide UP the bulk of its offense.
