Mercury Girls Basketball (Feb. 25): Methacton downs Boyertown for 11th straight win
Methacton 45, Boyertown 37 >> Mairi Smith had a big game down low and Nicole Timko continued her climb up the program’s career scoring chart while helping the Warriors achieve victory over the Bears in Thursday’s PAC Liberty Division play.
Smith got game scoring honors with 14, in addition to pulling down eight rebounds as Methacton opened a 14-2 first-quarter lead on the way to its 11th straight victory.
Timko’s 12-point outing put her at 1,094, passing former teammate Sydney Tornetta’s total of 1,091 to take over fifth place.
Mikayla Moyer and Ashley Kapp shared Boyertown’s scoring lead with 12 apiece.
Upper Dublin 40, Owen J. Roberts 30 >> Avery White was the bright spot for the Wildcats as they fell to the Cardinals in non-league action Thursday.
White scored 17 points to lead OJR, finishing one behind UD leader Amy Ngo’s 18.
