Mercury-Area Girls Basketball Roundup: Randleman leads Pottsgrove past Octorara
Pottsgrove 56, Octorara 20 >> Diana Randleman scored a game-high 19 points with three 3-pointers as the Falcons took control in the first quarter before rolling to a rout over Octorara.
Cori Dickinson added 12 points in the win as the Falcons held a 22-3 lead after one before leading 30-12 at the half. A 20-point third quarter, led by eight points from Randleman and four apiece from Dickinson and Molly Galvin effectively sealed the win.
Methacton 47, Mount Saint Joseph 44 >> Olivia Pennypacker hit a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left to give the Warriors their final lead during the Lady Warrior Classic Championship game Saturday night at Methacton High School.
Ryan DeOrio led Methacton with 25 points while Sydney Thompson followed with 10. The Warriors trailed by three points at the half, but were sparked by a 23-point fourth quarter to claim it.
Owen J. Roberts 45, Conrad Weiser 36 >> Diana Rantz’s 16 points led the way as the Wildcats pulled away in the fourth quarter to come away with their first victory of the season.
Camryn Glenn and Kylie Cahill each added eight points in the win, with Glenn earning all-tournament honors.
Olivia LeClaire finished with seven points, her four third-quarter points highlighting the team’s 11-point quarter.
Lansdale Catholic 51, Phoenixville 32 >> Laura Crim finished with a game-high 15 points while Brady Wassel added 13 as the Crusaders ran out to an early lead before topping Phoenixville 51-32 in the Souderton Tip-Off Tournament Saturday.
Crim and Wassel scored five points apiece in the first quarter as the Crusaders built a 20-4 lead after one before expanding the lead to 28-8 at the half.
Peyton Graham finished with 13 points in the loss for Phoenixville and was named to the all-tournament team. Her nine-point third quarter, coupled with a six-point effort from Hannah Sands the highlight of the contest for the Phantoms.
Sanford 50, Boyertown 48 >> Abby Kapp’s 3-pointer came a fraction of a second after the buzzer sounded, allowing Sanford to escape with a victory in the She Got Game Tournament in Washington, D.C. Kapp finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds, her second double-double in two games. Allie Marcus added 13 points with Katie Armstrong adding nine for the Bears.
Sanford was led by Olivia Tucker’s 17 points including four 3-pointers.
Pottstown 51, Lancaster Mennonite 37 >> Ebony Reddick posted a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds during the Trojans’ win over the Blazers during the consolation round of the Twin Valley Tournament.
Pottstown pulled away with an 11-point advantage during the second half after leading by only three at the break. Behind Reddick, Miyana Brandt and Gianna Epps each hit for seven points.
Bethany Bronkema paced Lancaster with 15 points.
Central Bucks West 65, Pope John Paul II 46 >> Maddie Burke led all scorers with 19 points while Maggie Rakowsky and Molly Rodenbaugh added 11 and 10 points, respectively as West defeated the Golden Panthers in non-league play.
PJP (0-2) was led by Rachel Yerger, who finished with 13 points along with seven steals. Elise Sylvester and Monica Rapchinski each added eight points in the loss.
Spring-Ford 74, Friendship Collegiate (DC) 28 >> Sydney Wagner scored 18 points while Maddie Haney added 11 as 10 Rams players registered points in a 46-point victory in the She Got Game Tournament Friday night.
The Rams limited Friendship to single digits in each quarter, leading 19-7 after one and 41-14 at the half.
Cassie Marte finished with nine points, with Rachel Christman adding eight. Alyssa Conway had seven points with Lexie Nugent and Juliana Alessandroni each chipping in six.
