Girls’ Basketball: Perkiomen Valley’s Quinn Boettinger scores 1,000th career point in win at Owen J. Roberts
A buzzer-beater can always be counted on to energize a team and crowd.
The one that occurred to close the first half at Owen J. Roberts Friday night added an extra dimension.
Perkiomen Valley junior Quinn Boettinger’s last-second layup elevated her to 1,000 career points, a milestone moment that highlights Perk Valley’s 60-24 victory over Owen J. Roberts.
The buzzer-beater was Boettinger’s final points of the night as she scored 18 points, all in the first half, to lead PV.
Boettinger became the ninth player in Perk Valley girls’ basketball history to score 1,000 career points. Coincidentally, she is the second this season after fellow junior Grace Galbavy achieved the feat against Upper Perkiomen on Dec. 21, 2023.
The 6-3 center/forward has been a major piece for Perk Valley since her freshman year when she was Mercury All-Area first team. Last season, she was top scorer for the Vikings’ PAC and District 1-6A championship team.
Boettinger began the season with 797 career points and is averaging 17.0 points per game, third-best in the PAC.
Perk Valley was out of sight with a 29-point second quarter against OJR. Galbavy and Bella Bacani added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Asya Price topped the Wildcats’ scoring with 14.
