The Methacton girls basketball team used a 10-point advantage to beat Boyertown, 39-31, on Thursday night in a repeat of last season’s Pioneer Athletic Conference championship game.
Abby Penjuke finished with a double-double, scoring a game-high 13 points to go along with 14 rebounds as Methacton (2-2 overall) moved to 1-0 in the PAC’s Liberty Division. Kyle Webb paced Boyertown (0-1 PAC Liberty, 0-3 overall) with a team-high 11 points including a pair of 3-pointers.
Boyertown entered the fourth quarter with a 25-23 lead, but was outscord in the final eight minutes, 16-6. Sydney Tornetta chipped in with six points in the win. Julia Smith added seven in the loss for the Bears.
