Dadonna scores her 1,000th point in Kutztown Holiday Tournament
Kutztown Area High School played host to a round robin holiday tournament last week with Kutztown, Brandywine Heights and Susquenita participating. Susquenita came away on top as they won both games, while Brandywine Heights split its two games and Kutztown lost a pair.
A milestone was also reached during the tournament, when Brandywine Heights’ Deanna Daddona scored her career 1,000th point in the Lady Bullets’ game against Susquenita. She needed just four points to reach the milestone, and got there in the first quarter.
The bad news was that despite the milestone, Brandywine Heights was unable to win the game, as Susquenita scored 40 first half points on its way to a 71-29 victory over the Bullets.
It was Brandywine that had the early lead, taking an 18-17 advantage into the second quarter. But Susquenita outscored the locals, 14-6 in the second quarter, and 10-5 in the third, to give them a lead they would never surrender.

Kutztown also opened its tournament against Susquenita. Another 40 point first half helped Susquenita to a 71-29 victory. Leading 19-7 after one quarter, Susquenita pulled away in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Lady Cougars, 21-8, and 17-8 respectively.

Brandywine and Kutztown battled each other in the second game of the tournament for each team. The Lady Cougars held a halftime lead, but Brandywine came back strong in the second half and won the game, 47-39.
Brandywine Heights led after one quarter, 10-6, but Kutztown came back to take a 21-19 halftime lead. That’s when Brandywine took off, outscoring Kutztown in the third quarter, 17-5.
