Clemons, Bonner & Prendie impress in season opener
Bonner & Prendergast began its season in winning style Sunday night at the Blue Chip Tip-Off Classic at Spring-Ford High School.
Led by Princess Clemons’ 18 points and six rebounds, the Pandas claimed a 60-48 decision over Pope John Paul II.
Clemons, a senior who missed all of last season due to injury, played remarkably well in her season debut along with Nyah Garrison (17 points, eight rebounds) and Caroline Manfre (six points, six rebounds).
Freshman point guard Maeve McCann, making the start in her high school debut, chipped in seven points and played a great all-around game for Bonner & Prendie, which recovered from a six-point halftime deficit by outscoring PJP, 25-10, in the third quarter.
In a nonleague game Monday:
Christian Academy 46, Friends Select 13 >> Grace Gormley was all over the court for the Crusaders (2-0), scoring six points while registering eight rebounds and eight steals. Lindsay Haseltine led all players 13 points to go with five assists and five steals. Danay Cooks-Green added nine points for TCA.
