Chernow, Upper Dublin handle Norristown
UPPER DUBLIN >> Alison Chernow scored eight second-quarter points and totaled 15 in the game to help push host Upper Dublin High past Norristown, 61-42, in a Suburban One League American Conference girls basketball matchup Thursday night.
The visiting Eagles led, 12-11, after a back-and-forth first quarter, but Chernow and her mates went to work in the second stanza, outscoring Norristown, 14-6, as part of a 14-2 run to open a double-digit lead, and the Cardinals never looked back.
Ashley Barber and Josie Barrett each added 12 points as the Cardinals (12-2, 8-0) remained atop the SOL American standings.
Patti Fortescue and Lauren Fortescue combined for 27 points and Taijah James added 13 for the Eagles.
Up seven at the half, the Cardinals pushed their lead to 36-22 on a Barrett three with 5:59 left in the third quarter.
And Norristown would not threaten again.
In all, the Cardinals dropped nine threes on the Eagles defense.
