Central Bucks East too much for Perkiomen Valley in district opener
DOYLESTOWN >> Perkiomen Valley’s season came to a close in a 53-30 defeat to No. 15 Central Bucks East in the opening round of the District 1 Class 6A girls basketball playoffs Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings, the reigning District 1 Class 4A (largest classification) champions, fell behind early and never caught back up. East opened up a 15-7 advantage after the first quarter before extending its lead in the second half, outscoring PV 25-10 in the final 16 minutes.
Briana Talbot led East with 17 points, finishing 7-for-9 from the free throw line in the final quarter. Bailey McManus added 15 points, including two 3-pointers.
Perkiomen Valley was led by Megan Jonassen, who scored 10 points in the loss. Kelly Owens added eight points — seven coming in the second quarter — while Alex Blomstrom added seven points including two 3-pointers.
CB East travels to face No. 2 Boyertown Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
