Andrews banks 35 points, go-ahead bucket to lead Penn Wood
Carle Andrews exploded for a career-high 35 points and made the go-ahead 3-pointer with less than two minutes to play in the fourth quarter, lifting Penn Wood to a 71-65 Del Val League win over Academy Park Tuesday night.
Kianna Elam netted 11 points and Saleia Matthews chipped in with 10 for the Patriots.
Mahya Woodton scored 18 points, Shantalay Hightower had 14 and Elisha Hernandez added 11 for the Knights.
In another Del Val game:
Interboro 49, Chichester 30 >> Gina McNamee went off for 11 of her team-high 16 points in the second quarter for the Bucs (8-8, 3-1). Madison Diehl had a solid all-around game with nine points, 10 rebounds and five steals, while Amber Seamen scored nine points on three 3-pointers.
Erica Brant poured in a game-high 19 points for the Eagles.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Germantown Academy 52, Episcopal Academy 42 >> The Churchwomen (10-7, 7-1) suffered their first conference defeat of the season and are now tied atop the Inter-Ac with the Patriots.
Elodie Furey had a monster game for EA with 29 points, including 21 in the second half, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Rachel Balzer paced GA with 14 of her 27 points in the second quarter, when the Patriots outscored the Churchwomen, 21-5.
Notre Dame 49, Agnes Irwin 23 >> Jill Kane hit three triples for a game-high nine points and Mandy McGurk finished with six points and five steals for the Irish (10-8, 5-3).
In the Catholic League:
Cardinal O’Hara 60, Archbishop Ryan 29 >> All-Delcos Kenzie Gardler (11 points) and Mary Sheehan (10) reached double figures in scoring for the Lions, who led at halftime, 25-9. Reigning Daily Times Player of the Year Hannah Nihill added eight points.
Archbishop Wood 47, Bonner & Prendergast 35 >> The Pandas hung tough with the defending Catholic League and PIAA Class 3A champion Vikings, but they couldn’t recover from a 26-10 halftime deficit. Nyah Garrison registered eight points and seven rebounds, while Caroline Manfre (five rebounds), Dakota McCaughan and Emily Monaghan each netted six points for Prendie (14-5).
In the Catholic Academies:
Merion Mercy 41, Sacred Heart 28 >> Kayleigh Doyle led the Lions (9-7, 0-5) with seven points and Kyra Quigley tossed in six.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Rustin 58, Sun Valley 34 >> Abby Seasock canned three 3-pointers for nine points, while Maya Morris and Kate Lannon scored six points apiece for the Vanguards.
In nonleague action:
North Penn 46, Archbishop Carroll 41 >> Bella Sorrentino led the Patriots with 11 points, while Molly Masciantonio and Theresa Kearney both scored 10. Maggie Pina added six points and two assists.
