Ratigan rumbles Perkiomen School to 44-13 win in opener
Talk about getting a head of steam. Half the time Perkiomen School running back Steve Ratigan touched the ball the only thing that could stop him was the back of the end zone.
Ratigan ran eight times for 192 yards and four touchdowns as Perkiomen School started its season in style with a 44-13 victory over St. Joseph’s Academy.
“After three weeks and having just one scrimmage, this was Week 3 for us, and we have that short window of opportunity for coaching the team up. The line play I was very pleased with and the running backs were awesome looking for cutbacks,” Perkiomen School coach Tom Calvario said. “(Ratigan) played very well.”
Calvario was pleased with the play of his offensive line, Ben Williams, Jordon Minder, Levi Yeager, JJ Heffernan and Eric Aaron
“They opened up holes everyone and defensively I was surprised at how well we performed,” Calvario said.
Perk School burst to a 36-6 halftime lead as Ratigan had scoring runs of 26, 1 and 66 yards after Bryce Noel opened the scoring with a 15-yard TD reception from quarterback Nick Guadarrama.
Guadarrama, Perkiomen’s new QB out of Newington, Conn., threw for two touchdowns on 3-for-8 passing for 61 yards.
Perkiomen’s other rusher Josh Cruz had six carries for 63 yards.
David Smith’s 44-yard TD catch capped Perkiomen’s first half scoring.
Ratigan rushed 70 yards to paydirt in the third quarter to cap Perkiomen’s scoring.
