Pennridge’s Kantor, Post help Bucks roll in Bucks-Mont Lions Club All-Star Game
DOYLESTOWN TWP. >> The best high school football players in Bucks and Montgomery counties squared up for the fourth annual Bucks-Mont Lions Club All-Star Game at Delaware Valley University Thursday night.
Highlighting the game was the Bucks County All-Star defense as well as the Pennridge duo of Zak Kantor and Jonathan Post.
Kantor, who will be playing at Widener University, threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns in the 44-6 blowout victory.
“It was one of my personal goals to play in the all-star game,” said Kantor. “When I got the invite, my coach told me that I had to play and I am so honored to be here for a second time. “Me and the guys thought that if we came ready, we were good to go and we had the confidence in ourselves and our coaching staff and we were just ready to go out and play a good game.”
Post caught two of Kantor’s touchdown passes and made three total receptions for 77 yards.
“Tonight’s game was just a blast,” said Post. “It was fun playing against a future teammate and show them what you got and make them look silly.”
Post will be playing at New Hampshire along with Upper Moreland’s Caleb Mead, who had a great game on defense for Montgomery County.
“I didn’t have a lot of training heading into this game,” said Mead. “This was just a good warmup heading into the summer but I’m glad I did good on defense because I’m most likely going to play on defense in New Hampshire.”
Mead prevented a Bucks touchdown by grabbing an interception in the end zone in the third quarter.
The Montgomery All-Stars took an early lead in the first quarter after Wissahickon’s Chris Edwards-Smalls snatched a fumble recovery on a punt return to go up 6-0. However, the Bucks County All-Stars scored 44 unanswered points to walk away with the blowout victory.
In total, Bucks County had 508 yards of offense while Montgomery County only had 50.
The Bucks County All-Star team now holds a 3-1 all-time series lead against Montgomery County. Montgomery County won the first All-Star game in 2016 19-17 before Bucks County won the next three games. Bucks County won 65-40 in 2017 before winning 20-13 last year at Delaware Valley University.
