Owen J. Roberts returns to form, shuts out Norristown 29-0
It was a short week for the Owen J. Roberts football team, which was almost certainly a welcome occurrence.
After last Saturday suffering their worst defeat of the season at Spring-Ford, the Wildcats were back to form in a 29-0 blanking of Norristown at Henry J. Bernat Stadium.
Owen J. Roberts (1-2 PAC, 5-2 overall) got a defensive performance much more like the Weeks 2-5 when it allowed only 27 points in that span as opposed to a 37-0 loss to Spring-Ford. The Wildcats forced five turnovers – three interceptions along with two fumble recoveries.
Freshman Mekhi Graham was the star on offense, scoring three touchdowns and running for more than 150 yards. His 91-yard TD burst opened the game’s scoring. Logan Brower’s 10-yard rushing TD upped OJR’s lead to 15-0 with 11:17 left in the second quarter and six-plus minutes later, Graham was back in the end zone with a 5-yard scamper for a 22-0 lead 4:38 until the half.
Quarterback Derek Hinrichs connected with Graham for his third score for a 6-yard TD that capped the game’s scoring with 11:10 to play.
Owen J. Roberts hosts Boyertown next Friday while Norristown hosts Perkiomen Valley.
