Delco Roundup: Morroni’s overtime goal boosts Penncrest past Marple
Eddie Morroni’s goal 42 seconds into overtime lifted Penncrest to a 4-3 victory over Marple Newtown in an ICSHL Central Division game Friday.
The game winner was Morroni’s second tally of the night. Scott Scranton and Jackson Wickson also found the back of the net for the Lions. Kain Walker assisted on Morroni’s goal in OT.
Zachary Dembzysnki forced the extra session when he scored the tying goal for the Tigers late in the third period. Dembzysnki finished with two goals and Tyler Hannan had a goal and an assist.
In an ICSHL crossover tilt:
Radnor 9, Great Valley 5 >> Andrew Knight erupted for six goals to lead the Raptors. Ryan Carr netted two goals and Tucker Graham provided a goal and five helpers.
Girls Swimming
Gabby Fiorentino Wong, who was part of the winning 200 medley relay (with Elise Olmstead, Rach Seng and Payton Conaway), and also was a winner in the 100 butterfly, 50 freestyle and 400 free relay (Wong, Conaway, Olmstead and Emily Fischback) events, helped Upper Darby outpace Chichester, 94-56, in a nonleague meet Friday.
Conaway also won the 200 free and 100 backstroke, while Olmstead captured the 200 IM. Grace Kolody won the 100 free and 200 free events. Seng, a sophomore, also played a winning touch in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Fischback finishing second there.
Kolody, Seng and Fischback were part of the winning 200 free relay with Angelique Mora. Chichester freshman Julia Pfleger won the 1-meter diving competition.
Boys Swimming
Upper Darby prevailed among the boys, too, with an 86-66 win over Chichester.
Leading the way was Luke Olmstead, with wins in the 100 breast, 200 free and 50 free. Sebastian Valley added Royals victories in the 200 IM and 200 fly. Both of them combined with Jose Mendoza and John McCarthy for a 400 free relay victory.
Chichester soph Torres Mateo, Josh Prag, Eddie Ferguson and Dan Kelly won the 200 medley relay.
Wrestling
Haverford School went on a run with 157-pounder Gabe Danisi winning by fall over Reilly Crowe, 165-pounder Andrew Lyon winning by fall over John Bonner, 175-pounder Matt Brosko winning by fall over Dorian Dabney and Dan Keiser winning a 190-pound decision with Michael Minicozzi, as the Fords bested Episcopal Academy, 47-24.
For Ea, Jack Signor won by fall at 120 over Haverford’s Ryan Colsher, and EA’s Will Hohn won by fall over Cole Lisowski at 150.
In a nonleague meet:
Indian River 64, Upper Darby 12 >> Angel Mora Salas (145) and Richard Goerlach (107) were victorious via pin fall for the Royals.
