Cougars Claw Colonials

WHITEMARSH->>No one is calling the Cougars of Downingtown East state contenders.
But maybe they should.
The Cougars clawed their way into Plymouth Whitemarsh Friday night looking to make a statement.
And they did, crushing the young Colonials, 47-6.
Quarterback Bryce Lauletta threw for two scores, senior running back Brassir Stocker added three more and the Cougars left little doubt that they’ll be a team to contend with this season.
It began from the opening kickoff, which Stocker returned, untouched, for an 89-yard touchdown.
And it got even worse for the home team.
After a Colonials’ three-and-out, the Cougars went 55 yards on seven plays to double their lead, with Spencer Umberger hauling in a Lauletta strike from the 11-yard line to make it 14-0.
And the Colonials were wobbling.
After another Colonials three-and-out, Stocker went off right tackle for a 45-yard score, and the rout was on.
By halftime it was 40-3 and everyone knew everything about the eventual outcome except the final score.
PW got on the board courtesy of the first of two field goals by Stephen Longo, while the Cougars got another touchdown to bring on the running clock courtesy of Stocker’s third score of the evening.
By the second half there was little interest remaining.
PW pulled within 40-6 with Longo’s second field goal, and the Cougars wouldn’t answer until Spencer Uggla chugged in from the 10-yard line with 2:47 left in the fourth.
