Corropolese steps in at QB, plays big role in Perkiomen Valley’s 40-0 win at Norristown
Thrust into action as Perkiomen Valley’s starting quarterback in place of injured starter Patrick MacDonald, sophomore Juliun Corropolese didn’t just serve as a placeholder.
Instead, he had a role in nearly every scoring play for the Vikings Friday night in a 40-0 victory over Norristown.
Corropolese threw for three touchdowns – all three of his completions (3-for-8, 104 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT) went for scores to Robbie Sturges, the longest for 61 yards – and kicked two field goals (27 and 28 yards) and four extra points.
If not for the sophomore QB’s big night, the PV defense would steal the headlines. Steve Tracanna returned a fumble for 26 yards and a TD to open the scoring and the Vikings picked off four passes.
Xavier Nunez led PV in rushing with 12 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown as part of PV’s 21-point first quarter.
The Vikings led 37-0 at half.
Perk Valley bounced back from last week’s defeat at Spring-Ford to improve to 6-2. It sits in the top 8 of the District 1-6A rankings.
Norristown fell to 0-8 overall.
