Reporter Field Hockey Roundup: Wissahickon rallies for third straight win
Grace Ball and Hannah Havrilla each scored a goal as the Wissahickon field hockey team rallied in the second half to earn a third-straight win, topping Springfield-Montco Tuesday in their Suburban One League American Conference contest.
Grace Woron gave Springfield (7-4-1, 5-4-1 conference) a 1-0 at 18:10 in the first half off a Charlotte deKerillis assist.
Ball pulled the Trojans (7-4-0, 6-4-0) even at 16:13 left in the second half with assist going to Harvilla. Ball assist on Harvilla’s go-ahead goal at 8:25.
Abington 2, Upper Dublin 0 >> Anna Joseph scored in the first half, Devan DiMaria found the back of the cage after halftime and Abington blanked Upper Dublin for its second consecutive win.
Becca Gable and Paige Doyle both had an assist for the Galloping Ghosts (8-4-0, 8-2-0 SOL American). Meghan Muth stopped six shots for UD (5-5-1, 4-4-1).
Plymouth Whitemarsh 10, Cheltenham 0 >> Ava Borkowski scored twice and handed out three assists as Plymouth Whitemarsh cruised to its fourth straight victory.
Sam Spera paced the Colonials (12-1-0, 10-0-0 SOL American) with three goals and also chipped in an assist. Kaleigh Missimer scored twice while Kayla Link had a pair of assists.
Central Bucks East 3, North Penn 0 >> Ally Gallant opened scoring on a penalty stroke, Mackenzie Lever doubled Central Bucks East’ lead before halftime as the Patriots shutout North Penn to stay perfect int he SOL Continental.
Kyleigh Talomie added a second-half goal for East (13-1-0, 9-0-0), which won its second straight.
Goalkeeper Mallory Stowell made 11 saves as the Knights (3-8-0, 2-6-0).
Gwynedd Mercy 3, Merion Mercy 2 >> Junior Alden Boccella and freshman Alaina McVeigh both finished with a goal and an assist as Gwynedd Mercy earned an AACA win by edging Merion Mercy.
Ireland McDermott added a goal while Caroline Sweeney had an assist for the Moanrchs. GMA goalie Kylie Haberstroh made seven saves.
Dock Mennonite 9, Bristol 1 >> Kate Strickland collected a hat trick — scoring twice in the first half as Dock Mennonite built a 5-0 lead — and also had two assists as the Pioneers rolled to a Bicentennial Athletic League win.
Elle Bergey had two goals and two assists for Dock (8-3-0, 7-2-0 league) while Macy Balmer scored twice.
Academy Notre Dame 4, Germantown Academy 3 >> Sammy Popper had two goals and an assist for Germantown Academy as the Patriots were edged in the Inter-Ac matchup.
Catherine McFadden added a goal for GA (4-3-1, 2-1-1 league) while Olivia McMichael made seven saves.
