Mercury Field Hockey Roundup: Hirst, Smith lead Methacton over Pottsgrove
Grace Hirst and Reilly Smith each scored a pair of goals for the Methacton field hockey team during a 6-0 win over Pottsgrove Friday.
Katy Benton had a goal and an assist while Madison Noh rounded out the scoring with a single tally in this Pioneer Athletic Conference divisional crossover game. Elena Snodgrass and Liz Chipman each posted assists in the win while Molly Frey came away with the shutout in goal.
Pottstown 0, Boyertown 0 >> The Trojans and Bears played to a scoreless tie during their PAC divisional crossover matchup.
Lillian Stirk and Chaisy Jules combined for 13 saves for Pottstown while Jayla Holloway made a defensive save during the overtime period. Laura Wigand needed to make just one save for Boyertown.
Perkiomen Valley 12, Upper Merion 0 >> Perk Valley (9-0) continued their unbeaten start to the season with a rout of Upper Merion in a PAC crossover all-Vikings matchup.
Teresa Bartkowski, Marie Lindberger and Cristina Dougherty had a goal and two assists while Katie Wuerstle and Kelly Baitinger had a goal and an assist.
PV out-shot UM 36-1. UM goalie Amandeep Singh made 22 saves and Kelly Dimarzio had a defensive save.
Owen J. Roberts 3, Phoenixville 1 >> OJR took control in the second half on goals by Natalie Fuertsch and Eloise Gebert to win a PAC crossover game.
Phoenixville led in the first half through Ameerah Green, but Bridget Gallagher drew the Wildcats level before half. OJR (7-1) out-shot Phoenixville 14-1. Abby Delgrosso had nine saves for the Phantoms.
Pope John Paul II 8, Norristown 0 >> Madisan Green scored three goals and Nina Mariano added two as the Golden Panthers rolled in a PAC crossover game.
PJP also got goals from Kelly Pires, Caroline Slattery and Annie Rathgeb.
