Reporter Field Hockey Roundup: Wissahickon, PW earn SOL American wins
Steph Scoma and Grace Ball scored 66 seconds apart early in the second half and the Wissahickon field hockey team stopped a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 Suburban One League American Conference win over visiting Upper Dublin Thursday.
Meghan Reilly made eight saves to earn the shutout for the Trojans (2-3-0, 2-3-0 conference). Kendal Williams assisted on Scoma’s goal at 28:07 while Hannah Havrilla had the helper on Ball’s tally at 27:01.
Megan Muth stopped 14 shots for Upper Dublin (3-3-0, 2-3-0), which lost its second straight.
Plymouth Whitemarsh 6, Upper Moreland 1 >> After Upper Moreland pulled with 2-1 in the first half, Ava Borkowski and Kennedy Reardon scored to put Plymouth Whitemarsh up three at the break. The Colonials pulled away in the second half thanks to goals from Haiely Copestick and Reardon to stay undefeated.
Reardon finished with a pair of goals and an assist for PW (8-0-0, 6-0-0 SOL American) while Copestick had a goal and two assists.
The loss drops Upper Moreland to 3-5-0 (1-3-0).
Central Bucks South 3, North Penn 0 >> Anna Shirley and Sophia Wasyliw gave CB South a 2-0 lead at halftime while Casey Reilly tacked on another goals in the second half of the Titans’ shutout victory.
North Penn out-cornered South 13 to 3 but the Knights (3-4-0, 2-3-0 SOL Continental) were held scoreless for the first time this season as they two-game win streak was snapped.
Melanie Dunton collected an assist for the Titans (5-3-0, 3-2-0), who have won three of their past four.
