Reporter Field Hockey Roundup: North Penn edges CB West for 2nd straight win
Kristin Varilla put the North Penn field hockey team ahead with just 4:57 left in the second half off an Eleni Kountroubis assist as the Knights edged Central Bucks West 2-1 for a Suburban One League Continental Conference win Monday.
Meghan Daniel also had a goal for North Penn (3-3-0, 2-2-0), who won its second straight game. Casey Reichwein scored for CB West (1-5-0, 1-3-0) while goalkeeper Cassidy Pitts made 10 saves.
Gwynedd Mercy 3, Central Bucks South 1 >> Freshman Alaina McVeith scored twice, Charrlette Gilmore added a goal and Gwynedd Mercy claimed a non-league victory.
Alex Wentz and Caroline Sweeney each had an assist while Zoe Rodgers made seven saves for the Monarchs.
Dock Mennonite 9, Lower Moreland 0 >> Macy Balmer and Kate Strickland both capped off hat tricks by scoring twice in the second half as Dock Mennonite rolled past Lower Moreland
Elle Bergey added two goals and an assists for the Pioneers (3-2-0, 3-1-0 BAL Independence).
Abington 2, Wissahickon 1 >> Grace Ball scored Wissahickon’s lone goal after a Sarah Campbell assist as the Trojans (1-3-0, 1-3-0 SOL American) lost their third straight. Abington improved to 4-2-0 (4-1-0).
Springfield-Montco 2, Upper Moreland 1 >> Anya Kochanowicz collected a goal and an assist as Springfield (5-2-0, 3-2-0 SOL American) won its fourth straight.
