Mercury Field Hockey Roundup: Perkiomen Valley edges Methacton
Kelly Baitinger scored on a feed from Danielle Hamm as time expired at the end of the first half and the Perkiomen Valley field hockey team preserved a 1-0 shutout in a win over Methacton, last year’s Pioneer Athletic Conference champion.
Ashley Derrick needed just three saves in goal for PV, which out-shot Methacton 10-3 in the Liberty Division matchup. Molly Frey had eight saves for Methacton and Rachel Alderfer had a defensive save.
Spring-Ford 4, Boyertown 0 >> The Rams scored all of their goals during the second half en route to a PAC Liberty Division win over the Bears.
Alexa Collins netted a hat trick while Kate Crist had a goal and an assist in the win. Ashley Della Guardia needed just one save in the cage to preserve the shutout while Spring-Ford put 10 shots on goal.
Upper Perkiomen 6, Pottsgrove 0 >> The Tribe scored five goals during their second-half outburst on the way to a PAC Frontier Division win over the Falcons.
Abriana Gatto and AiYi Young each scored twice and added a pair of assists while Michaela Greczek and Luci Carpenter each scored once.
Pottstown 1, Upper Merion 1 >> The Trojans and Vikings settled for a PAC Frontier draw. Courtney Bratten, assisted by Debra Lauly, scored the Trojans’ lone goal. Chaisy Jules and Lillian Stirk combined for 5 saves.
Owen J. Roberts 12, Norristown 1 >> Jenna Kirby and Bridget Gallagher each netted hat tricks in the Wildcats’ PAC Liberty Division rout of the Eagles.
Emily Himmelreich added a pair of goals while Maddi Koury, Olivia LeClaire, Payton Hansen and Molly Fedick each scored once.
