Drexel hoops commit Nihill scores winner in OT for O’Hara
Hannah Nihill may be an All-Delco basketball guard and Drexel hoops commit, but she isn’t too shabby at her other extracurricular sport, either, as the junior scored a breakaway goal in overtime to help Cardinal O’Hara (9-3) to a 4-3 nonleague win over Merion Mercy.
Makayla Gallen, Sara Hayes and Emily Quintus rounded out the Lions’ scorers, while Kelley Metzeen added an assist in support of goalie Jenn Ahearn, who had 13 saves.
In other nonleague play:
Garnet Valley 6, Interboro 0 >> Six different scorers hit the sheet for a Garnet Valley attack that amassed 24 shots on net in a rout of Interboro. Anna Dunn, Laynie Kennedy and Taylor Romaniello notched first-half tallies for the Jaguars, while Jackie Daniels, Kasey Burke and Emily Patterson capped the scoring in the latter period.
Bridget Elison stopped two shots to earn her first career shutout, while the Bucs’ Jess Hinchey saved 14 in a losing effort.
Academy Park 2, Conwell Egan 2 >> Riley Street and Kayla Payne handled the offensive duties for Academy Park, as they each scored and picked up an assist to boot as the Knights drew. Veronica Bauman had six saves.
