DiPretoro, Nestor prove clutch for Fords

Diana DiPretoro was in the right place at the right time, and so was Danielle Nestor, as Haverford outlasted Strath Haven, 1-0, in Central League field hockey action.

DiPretoro put home a rebound off a shot by Laura Winters midway through the second half and Nestor came up with a defensive save for the Fords (9-4, 6-1). Goalie Emily DiGaetano made eight saves to keep the Fords in second place.

Gillian Dunn stopped eight shots in goal for the Panthers.

Elsewhere in the Central League:

Radnor 3, Penncrest 1 >> Page Lowry and Katie Quinn were a potent 1-2 punch for the Raiders (5-7, 5-4). Lowry tallied twice and Quinn had one goal and two assists.

Willa Thompson scored for the Lions with an assist from Leah Hill.

Conestoga 12, Garnet Valley 0 >> Lauren Weaver had five defensive saves for the Jaguars.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Episcopal Academy 5, Springside Chestnut Hill 0 >> Corinne Zanolli led a balanced attack for the Churchwomen with one goal and one assist. Maddie Bacskai tallied twice and Margaux Paolino handed out two assists.

Notre Dame 5, Germantown Academy 1 >> Quinn Maguire scored the final three goals for the Irish and also had the assist on Tina D’Anjollel’s goal. D’Anjollel also had an assist, while Mary Kate Neff added two helpers.

In the Bicentennial League:

Delco Christian 7, Jenkintown 0 >> Kieran Thompson scored three of the five goals DC scored in the second half. Beth Yeung added two goals and one assist. Maggie Linton pitched in with two assists.

In the Del Val League:

Academy Park 1, Chichester 0 >> Kayla Payne scored on a corner with 11:01 left in the first half and goalie Veronica Bauman (two saves) made it stand up as the winner. Dana Goodyear had the assist on the winning goal. Erika Leidy, Cheyanne Farmer, kerri Burns and Mikaylah Cann spearheaded the defensive effort for the Knights (4-7-1, 2-2).
