Tornetta tallies to boost Agnes Irwin
It was better late than never for the Agnes Irwin field hockey team Tuesday. Sophia Tornetta scored with 1:10 left in the game to give the Owls a 1-0 victory Germantown Academy. Rosie Kalis made six saves for the shutout AIS (8-1, 3-0 Inter-Ac).
Episcopal Academy 4, Notre Dame 1: Margaux Paolino led the way for the Churchwomen with two goals and one assist.
In the Central League
Upper Darby 1, Marple Newtown 0: Jessica Hagan converted a penalty corner from Bridget Jones with 3:59 left to win it for the Royals. Tina Lugowski made six saves in goal for UD (5-8, 2-6). Megan Peterson stopped four saves for the Tigers.
Radnor 6, Springfield 0: Lydia Sydnor tallied four tiems and Katie Wakiyama added a pair of goals for the Raiders (5-8, 5-3). Goalie Ally Scanlon made 20 saves for the Cougars.
Garnet Valley 4, Lower Merion 0: Jessika Daniels scored twice to go with an assist, and Colleen Bradley added one goal and one assist.
Haverford 5, Harriton 1: Four goals from Abbey Romano powered the Fords (8-4, 7-1). Tess Horan added one goal and two assists.
In the Bicentennial League:
Delco Christian 11, Bristol 2: Beth Young (three goals), Madison Moore (two), Ava Berzinsky (two) and Olivia Thompson (two) did most of the scoring for the Knights (6-6, 4-4).
In the Del Val League:
Interboro 6, Academy Park 2: Annette Helmandollar led the Bucs with four goals and one assist.
