Recap
Scoring early Thursday, The Hill School boys soccer team held on to edge Mercersburg Academy, 3-2, in their Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) semifinal-round game.
The top seed Blues, hosting the game, came out strong against Mercersburg. They scored twice on the fourth seed with two goals in the opening 12 minutes, both from Ryan Wallace.
Wallace finished a through ball from Alex Tullman just 35 seconds into the match, and he then finished a corner off a flick from Euan Forrest 10 minutes later. The Hill took that 2-0 lead to the intermission.
Mercersburg converted a penalty kick four minutes into the second half, only to have Tullman restore The Hill’s two-goal lead a few moments later. The visitors made it a one-goal match in the 67th minute and then hit the bar, but couldn’t find the equalizer.
Chris Kingston turned in a six-save goalkeeping effort for the Blues. MA keeper Esteban Coercera Semerena matched Kingston’s save total.
The Hill will now play second seed Springside-Chestnut Hill in the PAISAA final.
