Thompson, D’Ignazio power Penncrest past Sun Valley
The cold and windy conditions did not bother Penncrest Saturday.
Willa Thompson and Allison D’Ignazio led the way as the Lions downed neighborhood rival Sun Valley, 4-1, in nonleague field hockey action.
Thompson finished with one goal and one assist, while D’Ignazio added two assists. Maitlin Combs, Kelly Kirchgasser and Ellie Sims also scored for Penncrest.
Molly McGovern converted a pass from Liz Johnson to get the Vanguards on the board in the second half.
Delco Christian 4, Marple Newtown 1 >> The Knights spotted the Tigers a 1-0 lead and responded with four unanswered goals. Beth Yeung tallied the first goal for DC then set up Kieran Thompson for the winner.
Thompson then fed Ava Berzinsky to give the Knights (6-4, 5-2 Bicentennial League) a 3-1 lead. Karah Hamel closed out the scoring. Gia DeAngelis had the goal for the Tigers.
