Brennan’s goal boosts Episcopal Academy

John Brennan picked up his first varsity goal in the final minute of extra time, tapping home a crossing pass from Aaron Bogle, to lift Episcopal Academy over Malvern Prep, 2-1, in an Inter-Ac League nail-biter Friday.

Matt McDevitt headed in a feed from Michael Hinckly in the first half for the Churchmen (8-7-3 overall, 1-3-2 league), and goalie Matt Freese made Brennan’s heroics possible by turning aside 16 shots.

Christian Academy 1, Gloucester County Christian 0: Brit Haseltine’s unassisted tally in the 13th minute stood up, with keeper Joseph Opdenaker saving the best of his seven stops for the waning minutes to keep the Crusaders (16-0-1, 14-0) unbeaten.
