Lopez’s two goals lifts Interboro over Springfield
Diego Lopez put on another scoring display and Brandon Weldon was clutch in net for Interboro in its 2-1 nonleague victory over Springfield.
Lopez scored his 25th and 26th goals of the season. Weldon (eight saves) had a huge save with one minute to play in the second half to preserve the Bucs’ (13-3) 10th consecutive win.
Matt Janelli accounted for Springfield’s only goal and netminder Michael Gerzabek finished with eight saves.
In other nonleague action:
Penncrest 4, Chichester 1: Jordan Hoyle found the back of the net twice and Ricky Vogler chipped in with a goal and assist for the Lions (13-3-1). Kevin Korthaus dished out a pair of assists while goalkeeper Thomas Brown had five saves.
Pope John Paul II 4, Penn Wood 4: The Patriots couldn’t hold on to a one-goal advantage as PJP netted the equalizer with four minutes to play in regulation. John Mansaray posted a hat trick and Collins Asmoah had the other goal for the Patriots.
Shipley 3, Strath Haven 2: The Panthers suffered a double-overtime loss as the game-winning goal came off a penalty kick. Cam Riccardi and Joe Soffer tallied for Haven. Sam Capalbo and Andrew Restrepo played sound defense in front of keeper Matt Eiel, who made eight saves.
