Brown comes through in OT for Penncrest
Sam Brown made sure that Penncrest kept its unbeaten start to the season alive.
Brown scored off a Charlie Simpson restart with 28 seconds left in the first overtime period, sending Penncrest to a 2-1 nonleague win over Avon Grove.
Brendan O’Boyle scored two minutes into the game off a Ricky Vogler feed, and Liam Thomas made the effort stand up with eight saves in net for Penncrest (3-0)
Also in nonleague action:
Sun Valley 2, Garnet Valley 1: Colin Harkins found the game-winning goal 10 minutes from time, chipping the goalie off an assist from Josh Lehrberger to power the Vanguards.
Harkins assisted on Owen Parente’s opening tally, and Julian Bombara made 15 saves for Sun Valley (1-1-2).
Michael Snyder came up with a second-half equalizer for Garnet Valley.
Haverford 2, Cardinal O’Hara 0: Liam Boyes and Noah Cordrey scored a goal apiece, and goalie Will Bistline stopped three shots for Haverford.
Noah Egelkamp and Sean Lacey had the assists for the Fords.
Ridley 1, Octorara 0: Jaime Fisher scored on a penalty kick in the first half and the Green Raiders’ defense did the rest. Goalie Jack Kopko (four saves) thwarted every attempt that came his way for the shutout.
Radnor 2, Penn Wood 0: Rodrigo Castro and Andrew Austen scored on either side of halftime off assists from Max Barish and Sasah Abadi to lead the Raiders.
