Boys lacrosse
Pennridge 9, CB East 8, OT: The Rams rallied for the OT win behind the gamewinner from Frank Fanelli, who finished with two goals and one assist. Drew Ferguson led the way with four goals, while Matt Seiler had one goal and three assists. Ryan Carickholff and Rocco Fanelli also scored for Pennridge, while Tyler Vandermark made 18 saves in net.
Softball
William Tennent 6, PW 5: The Panthers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and rallied for the SOL crossover win on Monday. Gigi DeMito tripled and drove in two runs to pace William Tennent, while Lainey Scotese, Anna Coulter and Casey Yacovelli all doubled. Kaitlin O’Toole settled things down with four innings of hitless relief. Marissa Perez doubled and drove in three runs to pace PW.
Upper Dublin 14, New Hope-Solebury 1: Nine different players contributed hits for Upper Dublin with Kaelin Penna, Madden Reilly, Kaitlyn Zacharia, Katelyn Gamburg and Emelinhe Bell each driving in two runs. Lucy Ruppel, Kaitlyn Zacharia, Meredith McKenna, Katelyn Gamburg and Emeline Bell all scored twice.
North Penn 11, Bensalem 1 (5): Julia Shearer belted three home runs – connected on two-run shots in the second, fourth and fifth inning – and also struck out 12 in complete-game victory as North Penn kept its perfect record intact. Gianna Cimino was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored while Reyna Doherty went 3-for-3 with three runs scored for the Knights (14-0, 10-0 SOL Colonial), who totaled 15 hits. Shearer finished 3-for-4 with six RBIs and three runs scored. Brie Wilmot was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Quakertown 16, Cheltenham 0 (3): Leah Schwalm hit two triples in finishing 3-for-4 with six RBIs and two runs scored as Quakertown put up 11 runs in the top of the second and remained undefeated. Abbey Wagner struck out eight in pitching three perfect innings for the Panthers (13-0, 9-0 SOL Liberty). Ava Beal was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored while Skyler Williams went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Katie Muller had a three-RBI triple in the second and scored twice. Maya Hellyer had two RBIs with both Grace Baker and Cadence Lewis scoring two runs.
Baseball
Perk Valley 5, Norristown 4: PV scratched out four runs in the fifth inning and picked up the PAC win on Monday. Norristown starting pitcher Matt Leary singled twice and went five innings, giving up five runs while walking four and striking out five. Brett Murphy doubled and singled, driving in two runs for the Eagles.
North Penn 6, Bensalem 1: Jack Picozzi struck out six in pitching a complete game and also added an RBI single as North Penn took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the third and went on to win their seventh straight. Kevin Brace was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Knights (11-1, 9-1 SOL Colonial) while Ben Farley had an RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth and also doubled and scored as NP plated two in the sixth. Picozzi allowed one run – earned – on four hits, one walk and one hit batter.
Plymouth Whitemarsh 6, William Tennent 4: Plymouth Whitemarsh broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third – Lincoln Sharpe’s RBI single followed by Tyler Gartland’s RBI triple – and the Colonials held on for their sixth win in a row. Sharpe went 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Gartland was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored for PW (10-2, 9-1 SOL Liberty). A Tim Lawson RBI groundout in the top of the fifth had William Tennent (3-9, 2-7 SOL Freedom) within 4-3 but Sharpe’s RBI single in the bottom of the frame and Johnny Giordono’s solo home run made it 6-3. In the top of the seventh, three straight two-out walks brought in a run for the Panthers but Cooper Jones came in and got a strikeout to seal the win and pick up the save.
Hatboro-Horsham 7, Upper Moreland 3: Hatboro-Horsham erased a 3-1 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fifth then tacked on three more in the sixth as the Hatters extended their winning streak to four. Noah Schlosser hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the third and went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored for HH (9-3, 6-3 SOL Liberty). Trey Porter was 2-for-2 with an RBI and scored twice, Aidan Eckley went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Kenny Lutz was 2-for-3. Shawn Townsend finished 2-for-4 with two doubles for Upper Moreland (6-5, 5-4 SOL Freedom), which dropped its second straight. Porter pulled the Hatters level 3-3 in the fifth with an RBI single then scored when Jaxson Bumpus reached on an error the next at-bat. Bumpus’ two-RBI single in the sixth made it 7-3.
Neshaminy 5, Central Bucks East 2: Central Bucks East took a 3-0 lead with two runs in the top of the fifth but Neshaminy scored twice in the bottom of the inning then put up three more runs in the sixth to come back and claim an SOL crossover victory. Nolan Behm was 3-for-4 with an RBI for CB East (2-11, 2-7 SOL Colonial). Robert Del Buono Jr.’s two-RBI single in the fifth cut the Patriots’ to 3-2. In the bottom of the sixth, a Brandon Lull RBI single put Neshaminy ahead 4-3 with Lull coming home two batters later on Anthony Trommer’s RBI double. Trommer finished 2-for-2 with an RBI for Neshaminy (10-4, 7-4 SOL Patriot), which has won four straight.
Boys tennis
Upper Dublin 5, Methacton 1: The No. 2 doubles team of Hugh Devine/Noah Cohen came away with a 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6) thriller and the Cardinals picked up the win to improve to a perfect 14-0 on the season. Dylan Wen won a three-setter at No. 1 singles for Methacton, rallying for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 decision.
Souderton 4, Quakertown 3: The Indians swept the doubles matches and picked up the SOL crossover win on Monday to close out their season. The match came down to No. 1 doubles where Josh Antil/Landon Catto rallied for a 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 victory. Quakertown controlled the singles action with wins from Max Arkans (6-2, 6-0), Tyler Osika (6-2, 6-1) and Ben Arkans (7-6, 6-2).
Girls lacrosse
Abington 12, Wissahickon 11, OT: The Ghosts took an 8-3 lead into the half and then had to rally for an overtime victory on Monday in SOL American action. Katie Pennekamp, Madden Murray and Piper McGinley all scored hat tricks for Abington, while Audrey Silverman added two goals. Emma Greenberg and Alexa McCabe also had hat tricks for Wiss, while Sophia Stehlik and Nora Ryan added two goals apiece. Ava Fell made 10 saves in net for Wiss, while Jaden Baby had five saves for the Ghosts.
Archbishop Carroll 13, Hill School 4: Carroll went on a 7-0 second-half run and coasted to the nonconference win on Monday. Carroll was led by Ava Bleckley with six goals and one assist, while Chloe Bleckley added three goals and one assist. Brooke Hippert added two goals, while Sam Hewitt and Lainey Straub also scored. Goalie Bridget Robinson stopped six shots in net.
Souderton 15, Bensalem 3: Carly Gavetti scored four goals and added one assist as the Indians won big on Monday. Tatum Andrews also scored four goals, while Avery Farina and Rachel Schewe each added two goals. Gabby Hirschmann made seven saves in net.
Boys volleyball
Souderton 3, CR South 0: Nate Brown had 12 kills and four digs as the Indians swept their way to the victory on Monday. Also standing out for Souderton were Levi Leatherman (3 kills, 10 digs, 16 assists), Justin Doppler (3 blocks, 3 aces) and Ian Nice (3 kills, 2 aces).
