Bonnett’s goal powers Penncrest, craziness in Central League standings
Alex Bonnett’s second goal of the game tickled the twine with one second left to spoil Conestoga’s Senior Night in a 9-8 Penncrest win that denies the Pioneers the inside line on the title. Ryan Kinnard scored four times, Zack Kaut added a goal and an assist and Steve Nolan made 15 saves for Penncrest (9-6, 6-4).
The loss drops Conestoga to 9-2 in the league, tied with Garnet Valley. In first place is Strath Haven, which clinched at least a share of the title with a 7-2 win over Harriton.
Haven (14-2, 9-1) can win the title outright by beating Garnet Valley on the road Tuesday. A Garnet Valley win would open the chance for tri-champs.
Will Huestis scored three goals to go with one assist, Hunter Mazur scored twice and Will Brake was forced into four saves thanks to a stellar defense led by Anders Camp.
