Hassett saves the day for Sun Valley
Chris Hassett was stopping just about everything Thursday, recording 17 saves as Sun Valley topped Bonner & Prendergast, 12-4, in a nonleague boys lacrosse game.
Jeff Johnson paired four goals with a helper, and Mark Warren added an assist to a hat trick as the Vanguards (1-5) picked up their first win.
In the Central League:
Penncrest 8, Ridley 7 >> Ryan Kinnard scored his fourth goal of the game with 10:35 to play, the only marker of the fourth quarter as the Lions claimed a taut affair.
Alex Bonnett added two goals, Max Daugherty paired a goal with an assist and Steve Nolan made eight saves for the Lions (5-1, 3-1).
Devon Tavani accounted for two goals and two assists, and Brock Anderson had one and one for Ridley (5-4, 1-3), which has lost three straight.
Springfield 11, Marple Newtown 6 >> Mike Gerzabek scored five goals, and Kyle Long accounted for three goals and five assists as the Cougars (2-5, 1-3) broke out offensively.
Tyler Kostack tallied a hat trick to go with an assist for Marple.
Strath Haven 11, Lower Merion 2 >> Jeff Conner netted five goals, and Jack Borbee paired two goals with three assists as the Panthers (7-0, 4-0) cruised to victory.
Garnet Valley 9, Harriton 5 >> Jacob Buttermore lit the lamp three times, and Denny Nealon scored twice and Matt Moore paired a goal with three assists as the Jags (5-2, 4-0) shut out the Rams in the second half with a strong collective effort featuring long-stick midfielder Dillon Smart.
Conestoga 13, Radnor 7 >> Clayton Proctor scored two goals and two assists, Drew Brown registered a hat trick and Tucker Ballbach made 14 saves, but the Raiders never recovered from surrendering six first-quarter markers.
