Spring-Ford 2016 Boys Lacrosse Preview

Coach: Kevin Donnelly, 12th season

Last year’s record: 14-0 PAC, 21-3 overall, PAC champion

Players to watch: Seniors Liam Hare, def.; Kevin Todd, attack; Jake Hvazda, att.; Matt DellaCroce, mid.; Jusin Schwenk, mid.; Ray Orcutt, mid.; Danny Cassidy, mid.

Outlook: The Rams lost All-Area Player of the Year Zach Hare (St. Joseph’s) and a slew of other college-level players. Yet Spring-Ford very well could have its best team in 2016, with nearly a full lineup of Division I recruits, led by PAC Defensive Player of the Year Liam Hare (Jacksonville), attackmen Todd (Richmond) and Hvazda (York) and midfielders/face-off men DellaCroce (Michigan) and Schwenk (Monmouth). With that much talent, the Rams are poised for a third-straight undefeated run through the conference and could finally get over the hump to reaching the PIAA Tournament after playing to within a goal of District 1 champion Springfield-Delco in the quarterfinals a year ago. That may be the long-term plan, but in the short term, “We are working hard to become the best team that can be. We will measure our success by how we come together as a team,” coach Donnelly said.
