Spring-Ford, Perkiomen Valley win at PAC/SOC Challenge
ROYERSFORD >> One Pioneer Athletic Conference teams reeled off a second-straight victory. Another used a strong fourth quarter to avoid an 0-2 start.
Both host Spring-Ford and Perkiomen Valley picked up wins on Saturday against their non-league counterparts during the PAC/Suburban One Challenge.
Spring-Ford followed up Friday night’s 49-48 win over Central Bucks West with a 57-46 win over Central Bucks South. Perkiomen Valley bounced back from a 62-51 Friday night loss to the Titans with a 56-49 win over the Bucks.
“We’re definitely feeling really good,” Spring-Ford junior Alex Lewis said. “Last year, we struggled. We went 6-7 in the COVID year. This year, we’re looking to bounce back and everyone’s playing well right now, everyone’s playing together. Things are just clicking right now.”

Sophomore Julian Sadler scored 15 and senior Josh Pelzer netted 12 for the Vikings in Saturday’s victory over Central Bucks West.
After trailing by one entering the third, PV outscored the Bucks, 18-10, in the fourth on the way to victory. Ethan Kohler, who scored eight points, came up with a clutch steal and offensive rebound to help seal the victory in the final minutes
“Starting 0-2 is always tough,” Pelzer said. “Just to get the first win of the season is always good.”
The Vikings graduated the PAC’s leading scorer Tyler Lapetina and their other top two offensive threats, Kameron Parks and Dom Miceli, from last season’s Liberty champion and District 1-6A quarterfinal squad.
This year’s Vikings team appears to have a number of scoring threats, though Pelzer (13) and Sadler (12) were also leading scorers for the Vikings in Friday night’s game.
“A lot of guys stepped up to fill those positions,” Pelzer said. “Dawson (Debebe), Julian, their filling the roles of the seniors that left last year.”
Spring-Ford and Central Bucks South were in a tight one early Saturday as the Rams trailed 13-12 at the end of the first quarter and led 25-21 at halftime. An 11-2 run to start the third quarter helped the Rams pull away.
Ten different Rams scored with senior Jake Kressley leading the way with 12 points and junior Alex Lewis coming off the bench to score 11.
“This team is really deep,” Lewis said. “We can really play up to 10-11 guys. Everyone who goes in, they just contribute and they make the team better. We have a lot of situations we can do at all times.”
Senior Cole Turner (17) and freshman Jacob Nguyen (10) led the Rams in Friday night’s win and both followed up with eight points on Saturday.
“I see a lot of young guys, a lot of underclassmen who can really show out this year,” Turner said. “Our culture, we emphasize our culture a lot this year. Just be positive.”
