Reporter Boys Basketball Roundup: GA’s Longino, CB East’s Jackman both score 33 in wins
Germantown Academy 70, Frankford 46 >> Jordan Longino knocked down five 3-pointers and helped Germantown Academy build a 41-22 halftime lead by scoring 19 of his game-high 33 points before the break as the Patriots rolled Friday at the GA Make-A-Wish Showcase Friday.
Jake Hsu registered nine of his 14 points in the first half for the Patriots (5-3).
Longino scored 10 points in the first quarter, which ended with GA up 17-9. Longino and Hsu then combined for 16 points as GA outscored Frankford 24-13 in the second quarter.
Central Bucks East 70, North Penn 47 >> Joe Jackman led Central Buck East’s 3-point barrage, hitting six in scoring a game-high 33 points as the Patriots made a total of 11 triples in rolling past North Penn for a SOL Continental victory.
Chris Charlton added 10 points while Jack Hamilton chipped in eight points for East (3-4, 1-2 SOL Continental), who made five 3’s in the first quarter — two by Jackmon — to jump out to a 21-12 lead.
The Patriots pushed the margin to 36-22 at the halftime then pulled away in the third — outscoring North Penn 19-12 to go up 55-34 – as they snapped a three-game skid.
Rob Carangi scored 11 points to pace the Knights (1-4, 0-2 SOL Continental), which has lost four straight. Kolby Barrow and Josh Jones each finished with nine points for NP.
Archbishop Wood 75, Garfield (Wash.) 70 >> All five Archbishop Wood players the scored reached double figures, Marcus Randolphi leading with 19 points as the Vikings topped Seattle’s Garfield at the ‘Iolani Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Rahsool Diggins recorded 17 points, Jaylen Stinson scored nine of his 15 in the fourth, Daeshon Shepherd had 14 points while Muneer Newton finished with 10 points for Wood (3-3, 1-0 PCL), which faces New York’s Mount Vernon in the tournament’s fifth place game Saturday.
Garfield’s Tari Eason had a game-high 33 points, 17 of those coming in the fourth. Koren Johnson added 14 points for the Bulldogs, who are coached by former NBA player Brandon Roy.
Dock Mennonite 69, New Hope-Solebury 63 >> Dock Mennonite was up 53-35 after three quarters but had to hold off New Hope-Solebury’s 28-point fourth to claim its fourth straight victory.
Both teams had four players score in double figures. For Dock (5-1, 3-0 BAL Presidents), Ralph Saint-Fleur had a game-high 17 points, Darius Ellis collected 15 points, Dallas Wilder posted 14 points while Devon Jainlett had 11 points.
Philip Weinseimer led New Hope-Solebury (4-2, 3-1 BAL Independence) with 14 points. Kyle McLaughlin scored 10 of his 13 points in the fourth. Michael Boyrce and Alex Walinski each added 12 points.
Wissahickon 51, Springfield (Montco) 44 >> Matt Compas scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in the second half as Wissahickon earned its third straight victory.
Harrison Williams finished with 14 points for the Trojans (3-5, 2-1 SOL American), who led 42-32 after three quarters. Compas was 9-of-11 from the foul line, including 8-of-9 after halftime.
Gabe Harris had 17 points to pace Springfield (2-4, 0-3 SOL American), which lost its third straight. James Joseph added 13 points for the Spartans.
