No spoiling Kozub’s gem in Strath Haven win

Gen Kozub was an out away from a no-hitter, and Brooke Bender had a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored in Strath Haven’s 8-1 Central League win over Harriton Monday.

Kozub recorded three strikeouts in a complete-game performance, surrendering three hits.

Hazel Kane (two RBIs) and Jamie Day both went 2-for-4 with doubles for the Panthers.

In other Central League action:

Upper Darby 6, Garnet Valley 5 >> Rebecca Sorrentino got the win in the circle and helped her cause with a home run. Rylee Shanahan went 2-for-3 with a double, and Camryn Young also had a two-bagger for the Royals.

All-Delco catcher Lindsey Hunt crushed two home runs and a double for the Jaguars. Audrey Shenk went yard for the first time in her varsity career, and Annie Bechtold was 2-for-2 with a double and a walk.

Springfield 14, Penncrest 0 >> Jenna Casasanto, Kaitlin Siddons and Jill Condi all hit dingers for the Cougars. Casasanto (four runs, three RBIs) and Caitlin Chambers (two runs, two RBIs) each went 4-for-5 at the dish.

Winning pitcher Sam Ciasullo added a single, double, triple and three ribbies. Condi and Mackenzie Maffei each went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Marple Newtown 10, Radnor 0 >> Abby Smith went 3-for-3 with a double, and Abby Layden finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the undefeated Tigers to their sixth consecutive win. Rachel Cowley pitched a five-inning shutout with three Ks.

Haverford 10, Lower Merion 0 >> Ali Murphy and Amber Moscoe led the way at the plate for the Fords. The All-Delco Murphy blasted a homer and a double with three runs scored, while Moscoe finished 3-for-3 with a double and a triple.

Conestoga 10, Ridley 2 >> Mary DelFera singled and doubled, while Abby McCoy legged out a pair of triples in the loss for the Green Raiders.

Jeannie Noll homered for the Pioneers.

In the Bicentennial League:

Delco Christian 18, Morrisville 1 >> Abbi Heacock went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and earned the win from the circle (six strikeouts). Freshman Catie Goneau and Kendall Clark both had bases-clearing hits for the Knights. Erin Mulholland was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
