Mercury Boys Basketball Roundup: Owen J. Roberts tops Boyertown
Ryan Sayers headed a trio of double-figure scorers that fueled the Owen J. Roberts boys basketball team’s offense in their 64-52 PAC Liberty Division victory over Boyertown Thursday.
Sayers hit for a game-high 24 points to key Owen J, which got 14 from Jacob Demech and 12 from Nick Massa. Boyertown’s offensive stars were Aarick Salata with 15 points and Hunter Borgmann with 13.
Upper Merion 63, Upper Perkiomen 50 >> The Vikings used a third-quarter scoring surge to overtake the Indians and win this PAC Frontier Division game.
Paced by Nick Shepperd’s game-high 17 points, UM used a 24-4 edge in the third quarter to erase UP’s 28-24 halftime lead. Drew Kupchak hit for 14 points to head a trio of double-figure scorers for UP, with Jake Plessl and Macauley Swen adding 10 apiece.
Muhlenberg 83, Daniel Boone 54 >> Caidan Iaccarino scored 18 points and Mikai Washington had 13 as the Muhls jumped out to a 12-point lead in the first quarter in the win over the Blazers.
Chaunce Johnson led Daniel Boone with a game-high 21 points.
St. Benedict’s 61, Perkiomen School 51 >> The Panthers dropped a tough one on the road against St. Benedict’s Prep, which mounted a pair of runs on the way to the non-league victory.
The Grey Bees jumped out to a 16-2 lead early in the first before Perkiomen battled back to go up at the half, 26-24. St. Benedict’s then started the half on a 10-0 run. Chris Arcidiacono finished with 18 points on four made 3-pointers for Perkiomen, and Niels Lane added 14 points.
Concord Christian 44, West-Mont Christian 29 >> Tyler Fox came up with a double-double for the Wings in their Atlantic Coast Christian AC game with Concord Christian.
Fox scored 19 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead West-Mont.
