Mercury Boys Basketball Roundup: Methacton wins high-scorer with Pottsgrove

There was quantity aplenty for the Methacton boys basketball team Friday.

And a good measure of quality, too.

The Warriors got a big showing from Erik Timko during their Pioneer Athletic Conference divisional crossover game with Pottsgrove. Timko was one of four players scoring in double figures to propel them past the Falcons, 92-60.

Timko hit for 27 points, 12 of them coming off 3-point baskets. Jeff Woodward followed with 18 and David Duda with 16 whiile Marcus Girardo added 11.

Pottsgrove, which trailed Methacton by 30 through three quarters, had three double-figure scorers. Manny Clark led the way with 17, Khaliym Smith had 13 and Cameron Mowrey 11.

Owen J. Roberts 51, Upper Perkiomen 34 >> Nick Massa and Sa’Vaughn Davidheiser shared team scoring honors while leading the Wildcats to victory over the Indians in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Massa and Davidheiser each hit for 12 points — Massa got all his off 3-point shots — in helping Roberts build a 40-24 lead after three quarters. The loss negated Riley Decker’s game-high 16 point effort for UP, which saw a majority of his scoring come off 10-for-11 accuracy at the free-throw line.

Gov. Mifflin 63, Daniel Boone 56 >> Chaunce Johnson mad a last second three-pointer to send the Blazers (4-1) into overtime, but the Mustangs (2-2) would win the game thanks to Bryce Black’s clutch 9-for-9 free throw shooting in overtime.

Black scored 30 points, 16 of those coming off foul shots. Johnson had 22 points for the Blazers while Matt Okuniewski also finished in double figures with 14.
