Lotito, Plymouth Whitemarsh rebound in fine fashion

WHITEMARSH >> The question on everyone’s minds prior to Thursday night’s pushed-up start of the Plymouth Whitemarsh game against Wissahickon was, how would the Colonials respond to their first loss of the season, a stunning setback Tuesday against Upper Merion?

The answer came pretty quickly.

Before the contest was two minutes old, Davon Burrell’s steal and solo take triggered a Colonials’ run that never quite ended until the home team emerged with a convincing 77-46 rebound, and all seemed right in Colonial Land once again.

Mike Lotito led PW with 22 points, Xavier Malone added 21 more and PW had just what it wanted – a strong bounce back and a weekend to celebrate.

The Colonials played like a club that had been spanked in their previous game.

Malone and Kevin Ashenfelter equally split 10 points in a well-balanced first quarter, then Malone had seven second-quarter points as the home team pushed its advantage to 31-17 at the break.

Wissahickon’s Chaz Owens had seven second-quarter points as the visitors briefly chopped their deficit to six (23-17) midway through the second quarter.

But PW righted the ship, and after extending its lead to double figures, doubled up Wissahickon in the third quarter (42-21) and cruised to the win.

Owens led Wissahickon with nine points, while Zach Reiner added eight.
