Peddie School 74, Hill School 71 >> Hill (8-7, 1-1 MAPL) lost an exciting league road game, ultimately undone by Peddie’s outstanding press.
The Blues answered a 6-0 Peddie (7-5, 1-0 MAPL) run to start the game with a big run of its own to build an early double digit lead. A shootout ensued that saw Peddie up 31-30 after the opening quarter.
Hill would improve its defense and turnovers the rest of the half, and held a 46-42 edge at intermission. Another poor start to the second half led to Hill trailing 65-58 after three quarters.
Peddie held a 74-67 lead late, and Hill chipped away and gave itself a chance to tie at the buzzer, but the game-tying three was just off the mark.
Hill put all five starters in double figures, led by Ryan Moffat ’19 with a game-high 23 points. Xavier Mayo ’19 followed with 16, then Caleb Dorsey ’20 with 12, and Gabe Dorsey ’21 and Daniel Nixon ’21 with 10 each.
