Recap
Hill (5-3) faced a similar halftime scenario on day 2 of the Scholar Roundball Classic at Babson College, leading 28-23 this time over a sharp shooting Choate squad from Connecticut. However, today the Blues used a suffocating 2nd half defensive effort to expand its lead throughout the half, pulling away and getting all 12 Hill hoopsters in uniform in action. Xavier Mayo’s active defense and rebounding helped provide the spark, as the sophomore forward scored 7 pts, pulled down 9 rebounds, and dished for 3 assists. Chase Audige and Colton Lawrence both scored 16 points to lead Hill in scoring, with Audige snaring 8 boards. Ethan Norton had another solid outing, scoring 9 points to go with 4 assists. The Blues used their defense to create a lot of offense and pounded the ball into the trio of Mayo, Solomon Ruddell (4 pts, 7 rebs, 4 blocks), and Donnell Hill (7pts, 3 rebs), who used their size and good interior passing to control the paint.
