DeAngelis powers Springfield to victory
Alex DeAngelis scored a personal season-high 15 points as Springfield weathered a shaky performance from the foul line to capture a 55-51 nonleague win over Kennett.
Great Orjih added 13 points and Ja’Den McKenzie scored 11 for the Cougars (9-7), who shot just 7-for-17 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to keep a tenuous grasp on the game.
In other nonleague action:
Penn Wood 63, Bartram 46 >> Pernell Ghee was dominant with 23 points as the Patriots (9-5) survived a chippy affair marred by 50 fouls.
Jay Fitzgerald scored 10 points, and Vincent Smalls added nine for Penn Wood.
West Chester Rustin 47, Glen Mills 45 >> James Timmons and Myron Sanders scored 14 points apiece, but a 3-pointer from Chris McMahon in the final minute put Rustin ahead for good.
Kenyon Cooper added six points for Glen Mills (8-6).
In the Bicentennial League:
Faith Christian 69, Christian Academy 52 >> Jalen Sherrill scored 12 points and Sam Geathers added 11 for TCA (6-10, 3-8), but Faith led by 22 at half and didn’t look back.
